This delivery follows the successful deployment of an initial five Motiv electric trucks in 2021 and brings Purolator’s total to 60 Motiv trucks now actively serving routes across Canada including Richmond, B.C., Quebec City, Que., Montreal, Que., and Vancouver, B.C.

Purolator’s pioneering batch of five Motiv electric trucks have already completed tens of thousands of miles, significantly reducing tailpipe greenhouse gas emissions and propelling the company towards its 2030 goal of vehicle electrification and emission reduction.

Motiv has supported these initiatives not just with vehicles but also through on-the-ground support. A Motiv team member was stationed at Purolator’s hub in British Columbia for the pilot phase, and the company plans to expand its support operations throughout Canada as more Motiv electric trucks are added to Purolator’s fleet.

“Integrating Motiv’s trucks into our operations is a step forward in our journey towards reaching 60% electrification of our last-mile delivery vehicles by 2030, and ultimately achieving net-zero emissions by 2050,” said Chris Henry, Director of National Fleet at Purolator. He noted the critical role of Motiv’s vehicles and customer support team during the British Columbia pilot, which was pivotal for the project’s success. « Quick responses, short downtime, and onsite service keep our electric fleet moving smoothly,” Henry added.

As the first Canadian courier company to launch fully electric curbside delivery trucks nationwide, Purolator has set ambitious targets to become the greenest courier company in Canada. The company recently announced plans to invest approximately $1 billion to electrify 60% of their last-mile fleet in Canada over the next seven years, including purchasing around 3,500 fully electric trucks and electrifying more than 60 terminals across the country.

Jim Castelaz, Founder and Chief Technology and Revenue Officer at Motiv Power Systems, expressed pride in the partnership with Purolator. “Purolator has been a longtime leader in fleet electrification, with ambitious goals and successes that prove the shift to electric trucks is not only possible but the practical choice — leading to improved performance and operational efficiencies while also reducing carbon emissions, » Castelaz said. « Deploying these 55 electric trucks is another step in our journey together to reshape last-mile delivery and create a more sustainable future.”
