The Erb Group hosts employee appreciation BBQs and celebrates its 65th anniversary

This summer, The Erb Group is proudly celebrating its 65th anniversary with a series of Employee Appreciation BBQs, honoring its dedicated network of employees across its nine terminal locations in North America. While these BBQs have become a cherished annual tradition, this year’s celebrations hold special significance as they mark the company’s longstanding commitment to dedication, community, and collaboration.

The summer BBQ series culminated in a grand celebration at The Erb Group’s home terminal in Baden, Ontario. The event featured a “Show and Shine,” appearances by MP Tim Louis, the Local Tractor Club, and a showcase by Isaac Instruments as The Erb Group prepares to introduce this technology into their fleet starting in September. These events not only highlight the company’s achievements but also underscore the vital role of industry partners, suppliers, and community members in its success.

A highlight of this year’s celebrations is the restoration of Truck 381, an iconic piece of The Erb Group’s fleet. This truck, originally a glider kit assembled by founder Vernon Erb in the company’s first shop (now the Head Office in New Hamburg), is deeply rooted in the company’s legacy. Initially intended for Vernon’s personal use, Truck 381 quickly became a key asset for drivers as the demand for refrigerated trucking grew.

Throughout the summer, Truck 381 has toured local terminals and truck shows, bringing a piece of The Erb Group’s heritage to the BBQs. This restored truck stands as a symbol of the company’s history and its continued enthusiasm for the future.

“Our Annual Employee Appreciation BBQs are a testament to the collaborative spirit that drives our mission,” said Alyssa Couvillon, Senior Director of Human Resources at The Erb Group. “These BBQs are a way to express our gratitude to our employees and the communities that have supported us. It’s an opportunity to come together, celebrate our achievements, and look forward to the future.”

The Erb Group’s commitment to community and teamwork is at the heart of its operations. Each BBQ event not only provides a platform to celebrate the company’s hard work in the cold chain transportation industry but also highlights the power of working together to move essential goods and support local communities.
