Faced with chronic congestion on Highway 20 in the Dorion and Île Perrot areas, determined citizens have decided to take action by forming the CITIZENS’ ALLIANCE FOR A REAL HIGHWAY 20. This initiative aims to accelerate the completion of Highway 20, a project that has been pending for over 60 years and is crucial for traffic flow and the local economy.

The region, experiencing sustained demographic and economic growth, suffers from recurring congestion that impacts not only the quality of life of residents but also the productivity of local businesses. Currently, Highway 20 functions more like an urban boulevard with traffic lights and frequent intersections, which significantly reduces its effectiveness as a highway.

Despite all necessary expropriations being completed and the lands being owned by the government, the project remains stalled. Studies continue to multiply, but the completion works are slow to start. Supported by local elected officials and regional deputies, the Alliance intends to end this unsustainable status quo.

To achieve this, the Alliance will launch a petition in the coming months, aiming to gather thousands of signatures to support their cause. Volunteers will be mobilized across the region to collect these signatures, and several significant events are also planned to raise awareness among the public and decision-makers.

The CITIZENS’ ALLIANCE FOR A REAL HIGHWAY 20 IN DORION / ÎLE PERROT is firmly committed to transforming this road into a true highway, thus meeting the mobility needs of the entire region. Follow the developments and join this citizen movement for infrastructure that meets the challenges of the 21st century.
