Did you know that YEG has forged an innovative partnership with Toyota Canada Inc. to bring 100 Toyota Mirai hydrogen fuel cell electric vehicles (FCEVs) to Alberta’s roadways? This initiative marked the introduction of the first fleet of hydrogen-powered zero-emission vehicles in the province, setting a new standard for sustainable transportation.
« Myron Keehn emphasized the significance of this partnership, stating, « Our collaboration with Toyota Canada Inc. is a pivotal step toward a greener future. These 100 Toyota Mirai vehicles are just the beginning. We aim to expand this initiative, paving the way for 5,000 hydrogen vehicles, significantly reducing carbon emissions and promoting cleaner air for all Albertans. »

The 5,000 Hydrogen Vehicle Challenge is not only about increasing the number of hydrogen vehicles but also about creating the necessary infrastructure to support them. This includes hydrogen refueling stations and maintenance facilities, ensuring that the shift to hydrogen-powered transportation is seamless and sustainable.
As YEG continues to lead the charge in sustainability, Keehn remains optimistic about the future. « We are committed to making Edmonton a hub for innovation and sustainability. By embracing hydrogen technology, we are taking a significant step toward reducing our environmental footprint and setting an example for other regions to follow. »
