[Contargo] Success Stories in Building Truck Charging Infrastructure! 

Neuss, Germany, February 18, 2025 – Last Friday, I had the pleasure of attending the opening ceremony for a new charging infrastructure project by our customer Contargo in Neuss, Germany. The company is currently installing up to 90 charging points across 15 locations to support its growing fleet of battery-electric trucks, including 20 Mercedes-Benz eActros 600. This project will become Germany’s largest private truck charging infrastructure!

This milestone is a major achievement in Contargo’s journey towards CO₂-neutral transport, and I want to extend my congratulations to Jürgen Albersmann and the entire team for this fantastic accomplishment.

A Step Forward in the Energy Transition

This success story provides much-needed optimism in an area where confidence is crucial. To meet the CO₂ reduction targets for Europe’s commercial vehicle industry by 2030, approximately 35,000 fast-charging points (>800 kW) will be required. However, as of today, fewer than 1,000 exist, many of which lack the power that trucks need.

But we are not just pointing out challenges – we are actively working to overcome them. Through our Milence joint venture, we aim to deploy and operate 1,700 high-capacity public charging stations in Europe by 2027.

A Collective Effort for Zero-Emission Transport

With visionary customers and strong partners, we can turn the transition to zero-emission transportation into reality. We need more initiatives like this – not only from the industry and customers but also from policymakers! A special thanks to Volker Wissing for attending the event.
