Government launches a new call for proposals to modernize freight transportation
Today, the Green Freight Program officially opens a 90-day call for project applications under Stream 2 – Fleet Modernization. This initiative provides up to $5 million per project to support cleaner and more efficient freight operations.
Eligible applicants can receive non-repayable contributions for:
• Repowering or upgrading existing vehicle engines for better energy efficiency;
• Purchasing lower-carbon, cleaner-fuel freight vehicles;
• Enhancing operational efficiency by implementing best logistical practices.
Driving Innovation and Emissions Reduction
Investing in a low-emission transportation sector that integrates clean technologies helps businesses cut fuel costs while combating climate change.
A key new feature of Stream 2 is that refuelling infrastructure is now an eligible expense, ensuring long-term benefits and supporting the success of green freight initiatives.
Selected projects will accelerate the transition to a net-zero freight sector by improving energy efficiency across medium- and heavy-duty vehicle fleets.
Application Process
The Stream 2 – Fleet Modernization call for project applications is now open and will close on June 2, 2025, at 11:59 PM (Eastern Time).
