Washington, D.C. – Cargo theft has surged by a staggering 1,500% since 2021, inflicting an estimated $35 billion in annual losses on the supply chain. This growing crisis threatens transportation and logistics companies, underscoring the urgent need for legislative action.

Adam Blanchard, an American Trucking Associations (ATA) member and CEO of Double Diamond Transport and Tanager Logistics, testified before the U.S. Senate today, sharing firsthand accounts of how his business has repeatedly fallen victim to cargo theft and impersonation scams. Blanchard urged lawmakers to address this escalating issue by passing legislation to establish a coordinated federal response to investigate and prosecute cargo crimes.

Today’s hearing marks the third time in the past month that ATA has testified before Congress, emphasizing the critical need for decisive action to safeguard the trucking industry and the broader economy.
